TATTOO REMOVAL & Scar Camouflage

Pro Cosmetic Tattoo is Brisbane’s Best Laser Tattoo Removal and Non- Laser Tattoo removal option.

Types of Tattoo Removal

Here at Pro, we offer all modalities to remove and lighten your Cosmetic and body tattoos. So, what are they and which is right for you?

Saline Base tattoo removal is an effective method of fading permanent cosmetics by the use of sterilised saline water. This process is effective in removing permanent tattoos depending on the depth of the pigmentation. It works by implanting the sterile salt solution on the previously pigmented area. The reaction of the chloride solution with the unwanted pigmentation fragments the ink particles and draws it out of the skin via a scab. You must keep the area dry for 5-7 days to ensure a scab forms on the surface. Once the scab falls off, it will take ink away with it.

How many sessions will I need?

This is depending on many factors. The older the ink, typically the harder it is to remove. The heavier and deeper the ink was implanted, means it may take longer to draw out.

1-4 for lightening to re-tattoo

2-12 for complete removal.

It is to be noted that in some cases the skin may never be completely cleared of old ink.

Benefits of saline tattoo removal-

Saline will recognise all colours of ink and has no limitations on the type or tone of ink that can be removed.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Most experts consider laser removal to be the most successful way to remove tattoo. This is true, if the laser can be used to target the ink in question.

Pro Cosmetic Tattoo is proud to use Q-switched laser, which sends out energy in one strong pulse. This pulse of energy heats up the ink in your skin and shatters it to dissolve it. Once the ink is shattered, it’s your body that removes it. You should drink plenty of water to aid in flushing it out and stay out the sun to avoid darkening.

You’ll need to receive several laser treatments usually spaced 6 weeks apart. The age of the tattoo and how it was done- ie professionally, home job or stick poke will impact how easy it is to remove.

Ink is made up of a multitude of colours, that are revealed once we have started removing your tattoo.

If you have darker skin, you may not be suitable for laser tattoo removal as the treatment causes hyperpigmentation- sometimes permanently

Benefits of laser tattoo

Results are usually seen quicker with laser tattoo removal. Quick recovery.

Removal Aftercare

Following each session, you’ll want to follow any aftercare instructions you’re given. Usually, this will involve applying antibacterial ointment to your skin for several days. The ointment will help heal your skin and reduce the risk of infection. Change the wound dressing each time you apply the ointment.

For at least the next 2 weeks:

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothing.
  • Avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight.
  • Don’t pick at any scabs or blisters that form.

Laser tattoo removal typically carries a lower risk of scarring than other removal options, just be sure not to pick at the area as it heals, as this can increase your risk of scarring.

Which type of removal is right for me?

Initially we will usually always recommend beginning with laser tattoo removal. If there are ink colours that the laser doesnt recognise, or there is a significant amount of titanium dioxide present (white ink) we will begin with saline.

Lightening your eyebrows but not fully removing.

There is a need for eyebrow-lightening services since we have been tattooing ink into the brows consistently for many years. As the years go by and you get your brows touched up, more and more ink is being placed into the skin. There comes a point where touch ups are no longer successful as ‘your cup is full’ as we like to say.

Ink will shift in colour over the years, for example- dark browns may turn ashy/grey and warm brows may turn reddish. Your artist will likely complete a colour correction at your touch-up to restore the colours that have been lost. This is a common and great way to maintain your cosmetic Tattoos. However, if you have been doing this for over 5 years, the chances are that you may need some of that ink out to get longer-lasting brows over time.

When your skin is too full of ink, touch-ups may not last as long.

So what can you do?

Book a session of laser tattoo removal and remove some of the old ink that is no longer serving you. To lighten brows, you will need between 1-4 sessions (4 for very saturated brows).

Standard Tattoo Removal vs Non-Laser

Both saline and tattoo removal are great in for different reasons or when used together on a treatment plan. Laser removal works by using light to break up the pigment (ink) that penetrates deep enough down into the skin and then absorbed by the body. The intense light breaks up the pigment into tiny fragments and it is removed by the body’s immune system. Non laser Saline removal works in a different way by bringing the pigment up out the skin via a scab.

Getting a new tattoo after removal

One thing to note is that if you have had a lot of laser sessions where there has been too much power used or the wrong frequency, it can be difficult to re-tattoo. Tattooing skin after it has been lasered too many times or incorrectly is often unsuccessful. This is because this skin no longer accepts pigment. This is particularly disappointing for women who have removed a bad set of eyebrows, only to find that there may be difficulties getting a good result now the skin has been compromised. This is why it is important that you choose a removalist who is going to safely remove the ink whilst keeping the integrity of the skin.

Remove and renew

Do you have a great-shaped tattooed brow but find that the colour is not the right tone or that there is too much ink in the skin? Is the tattoo good but a bit too heavy looking and you would prefer it light? Or perhaps you have changed your hair colour and now the tattoo is too dark for the new hair. There are ways that we can correct this with saline and laser tattoo removal. Email images of your cosmetic tattoos to info@procosmetictattoo.net to see how we can help today.

Removing body tattoos

We can remove unwanted body tattoos at Pro Cosmetic Tattoo in Brisbane. The success of how well a tattoo can be removed is down to multiple factors. Including type and age of the ink and how deep and thick it has been implanted into the skin. Also, where on the body the tattoo is. Typically, anything below the knee takes longer to heal/ ink to flush out. Aside from the above the experience of the technician and the machine are both important to the success rate. You can have a good quality machine, but if the technician isn’t confident using the right wavelength and power, you may end up with poor results. If you go to someone who is not hitting the ink with the right wavelength or using too much power, you can end up scarred and lose melanin from the skin.

Our laser removal machine can remove all colours except yellow. Yellow is typically very difficult to remove, regardless of the device. Saline can remove all colours so can be used in this instance.

We are using the Quanta Q plus Evo Series. Q Plus EVO Series is a versatile laser platform that can be customised with 6 different configurations with four active wavelengths to choose from (Nd:YAG 1064/532; Alexandrite 755 nm and the world’s fastest Ruby 694 nm) and three pulse emission modes. The exclusive combination of Q-Switch and Pulsed modes makes this system exceptionally adaptable for multiple clinical applications such as Laser Tattoo Removal, Pigmented Lesions, Skin Resurfacing, Laser Hair Removal, In addition to this great adaptability, the Q-Plus Evo series is based on powerful Q-switched technology that does not run on consumable dye hand-pieces. Q Plus Evo Series is the only Q-switch Laser Series on the market with available configuration of 1064nm & 532 nm in both Q-Switched and Long Pulsed Modes.

Tattoo removal is a fantastic way to remove bad work either fully or in parts. However i,t should be noted that this treatment requires patience. There is no telling how many treatments will be required but a rough guide or between 2-12 depending on how deep or saturated the ink is. Often, visually there is not much difference after one session, yet the ink will have moved up (if using saline) or been shattered below what you can see (if using laser)

Session two normally demonstrates more of a difference. If you would like a tattoo removed please contact the team for a consult to see if you are a good candidate.

It is essential to avoid sun exposure or solariums for at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment and throughout your treatment plan. This means you cannot get the area being treated in the sun.  Any form of exposure can increase your risk of burning, blistering and pigment changes within the skin which includes post-inflammatory hyper, darkening, or hypo, lightening, and pigmentation (skin getting darker or lighter)

It is also important to avoid the use of fake tans prior to your treatment and ensure the area is free from any artificial pigments, including makeup, on the day of your appointment

healing process

Laser Tattoo removal doesn’t require much time to heal externally. You may find that the skin is a bit red and sore to touch. In some cases where we are removing heavy tribal tattoos, some blistering may occur. However, in all instances, we are seeking to avoid this. During laser tattoo, we add on a scar management treatment to prevent skin breakage and protect the skin. After your laser tattoo removal, we will apply some aloe vera and a temporary covering which will be removed in one hour.

When removing ink from dark hair eyebrows it is to be noted that the laser may find the black in the hair and remove the colour from it. This is temporary and usually, the colour is back within a week or 2. You can always apply some henna or tint over the top during this phase. We do not shave eyebrows before treatment; however, we may trim your brows.

Changes in colour of brows during removal

Eyebrow inks are made of a multitude of colours, not limited to red, yellow, white, black and blue. Sometimes when we laser remove the top colour, we immediately see the undertone of the ink. We will also treat this during the session however you may have different coloured eyebrows for the healing period. Makeup can be worn over the top.

You must avoid the sun to the area of removal, before, after and during treatment.

Saline tattoo removal requires you to be careful with water and sun exposure for 5-7 days. Your skin will be red after treatment and may remain red for a few days. You cannot apply cream or get the area wet as we want a scab to form. The more scab, the more removal.

Slight swelling, tenderness and redness may be expected following the procedure which will subside within 48 hours. Non-laser tattoo removal only takes about 5-7 days to heal and, in this time, do not wet your brows!! It is best to leave them completely and let them dry out and scab up. Please prepare youself for red skin after the treatment and allow 5-7 days for dark brows with some scabs.

Before and After Procedure

Whether you’ve been wanting to remove your tattoo for a short or a long time, we can help you! The procedure takes roughly 15-30 minutes, and we will tell you everything you need to know during the appointment. Depending on how old the tattoo is, you may need anywhere from 2-12 sessions, these being roughly 6-8 weeks apart.  For a consultation with our experienced and insured estheticians, give us a call or drop by and we would be happy to help and make you feel confident and whole again.

HOW MANY SESSIONS

Scar camouflage is a treatment that involves different techniques, including tattooing to minimise the appearance of scars. We can tattoo in skin-coloured ink (where possible) and blend white scars into your skin tone. We also have a range of medical grade techniques to help shrink and address discoloration in the skin.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME

Scar camouflage is a treatment that does not look good straight away. You must be prepared for skin redness directly in the scar and surrounding skin. This redness can hold for 5-7 days before it turns brown. The brown pigment, which is just a temporary injury response can last up to 6 weeks. Those who have darker skin tones may experience darkness in the healing area for longer. Everyone is individual.

STRETCHMARKS

We can improve the texture and colour of your stretchmarks with various techniques including tattooing. We can treat stretchmarks on your stomach, thighs, bottom, arms, hips and anywhere else they are present.

This treatment works well for both males and females.

Please be advised that the area which is treated will look red and raised until it has healed.

HOW DO I BOOK IN?

Sometimes we recommend a patch test to see if the scar is going to accept treatment. You can book this service online, paying the tray fee as advertised.

Stretchmark treatments can usually go ahead right away and are usually sold in packages. Tattooing is not the only part of the treatment, there are other crucial elements to prep and heal the skin. Typically speaking, we price the amount of skin to be worked by the size of an A5 sheet of paper.

If you have any questions or would like to send a photo, please email info@procosmetictattoo.net
